Taking it back to the essence, Droppin’ Science is a night dedicated to hip hop in all its forms, celebrating the culture that raised us, the pioneers who opened doors, and the new wave of trailblazers walking boldly through them.

Droppin’ Science brings together the fearlessly creative, the wildly influential, and the unapologetically authentic; headlined by De La Soul, with Oddisee & Good Compny and Miss Kaninna joining the bill, because three is the magic number.

De La Soul

Few groups embody that spirit like De La Soul. The Long Island group changed hip hop with their genre-shaping debut 3 Feet High and Rising, injecting colour, wit and self-awareness into the culture. Their free-thinking creativity helped define an entire movement, and decades on, their music still sounds like the future. The hip-hop icons are set to make a monumental return with their long-awaited new album Cabin in the Sky. Their first full release since 2016, the record marks a defining new chapter for one of hip-hop's most influential groups and features heavyweight collaborators Nas, Common, Black Thought, DJ Premier, and Pete Rock, blending reflection, resilience, and that signature De La warmth.

Oddisee & Good Compny

Joining them is Oddisee & Good Compny, the DMV rapper, producer and polymath known for blending jazz, funk, go-go, and hip hop. Oddisee has self-produced and released a catalogue of modern classics (The Good Fight, The Iceberg, ODD CURE) and his live band performances are transcendental.

Miss Kaninna

Completing the lineup is Miss Kaninna, one of Australia’s most powerful new voices. A proud Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung, Kalkadoon and Yirendali woman, she blends hip hop, neo-soul and R&B into anthemic empowerment and resistance. With breakout singles Blak Britney and Pinnacle Bitch, and a debut EP that swept the 2025 AIR Awards, Miss Kaninna is unfiltered, unstoppable, and a cultural force.

Presented by Astral People at Palace Foreshore, Droppin’ Science is an all-out salute to the sound that shaped us, the voices that continue to push it forward, and the communities that keep it alive.

This is hip hop. In full colour.
